The Flash EP Reveals Why Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman is Not in Armageddon

The Flash Season 8 is almost upon us and with it, the crossover event the fans have been waiting for. The Flash’s upcoming crossover event which the EP, Eric Wallace, has phrased as the series’ fifth graphic novel is premiering this Tuesday on The CW.

Eric Wallace recently dished out about the Armageddon crossover event on The Flash Podcast. And he has teased some promising things for the upcoming event as well as answered a question that we all have been thinking about.

Why Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) is not in Armageddon?

Fans have been wondering why Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman or Melissa Benoist’s Supergirl will not be showing up in this crossover considering the level of threat Barry and Earth-Prime face as Arrowverse’s Justice League unites once again. And thanks to Eric Wallace and The Flash Podcast, we finally have the answer to that question.

Eric Wallace revealed that he initially wanted both Supergirl and Superman to be in this crossover event. But unfortunately, he was unable to get any of them due to scheduling conflicts.

When The Flash Season 8 started filming, Melissa Benoist and the cast of Supergirl were filming their final episodes of the show, which was already very emotionally taxing for all of them. According to Eric Wallace, even Chyler Leigh (Alex Danvers/Sentinel) was almost not able to make it to the crossover but somehow they made it work and she went straight to filming Armageddon right as she finished on Supergirl.

He stated that they even had to shoot episodes and scenes out of order due to the scheduling to make sure she was a part of this crossover event.

Similarly, Tyler Hoechlin was also not able to make it to the crossover because of scheduling conflicts and COVID even though he really wanted to be a part of it. Although, Eric Wallace did give some good news to the fans of Superman and Lois as he talked about Tyler owing him an appearance on The Flash now, which he is gonna make use of as soon as they can figure something out. He also talked about having Bitsie Tulloch‘s Lois Lane over on The Flash as well when the next time Superman shows up on the show.

Tyler Hoechlin and Eric Wallace previously worked together on MTV’s beloved series, Teen Wolf. Tyler was one of the original cast members of the show and stayed as a series regular on it till Season 4.

The Flash Season 8’s Armageddon crossover event is shaping up to be rather more exciting than many had first anticipated. And although this is supposed to have the same level of stakes both emotionally and in terms of threat, Eric Wallace has insisted that this will focus more on Barry and Iris than anything else.

He has stated that the event’s heart is at Barry’s emotional journey as he calls it “Barry’s worst day yet.” And he has also assured the fans that the fallout and consequences of this event will last throughout the season for both Barry and Iris.
