Captain Marvel: Park Seo Joon Confirmed to Star in The Marvels, Will Begin Filming Soon

The beloved Korean actor, Park Seo-joon is officially set to be starring in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s upcoming Captain Marvel sequel, The Marvels, as confirmed by the actor’s agency (Awesome Entertainment) itself.

Park Seo-joon’s agency released an official statement this morning sharing their excitement towards this next big step in the actor’s career and confirmed that the actor who was spotted at Incheon Airport has left for overseas filming today.

Park Seo-joon is not a stranger among the people who follow Korean dramas and movies as the actor has appeared on several big hits and has fans all over the world for his roles in K-Dramas such as Fight My Way, Kill Me, Heal Me, She Was Pretty, What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim, and Itaewon Class.

The actor also starred in the buddy cop film, Midnight Runners and has appeared in The Divine Fury as well. He has also made several cameo appearances in hit Korean movies such as Be with You, The Beauty Inside, and Bong Joon-ho’s Oscar-winning film Parasite.

The actor has earned several notable acting accolades within just a few years since he first rose to popularity. Park Seo-joon has won the Top Excellence Award for an Actor in a Mini-Series on APAN Star Awards for his role on What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim in 2018 as well as the Asian Film Awards’ Rising Star Award in 2019.

Park Seo-joon is also close friends with Parasite’s actor Choi Woo-shik and BTS’s Kim Taehyung, and is a part of the beloved Korean celebrity friends group the Wooga squad. The Wooga squad also includes Park Hyung Sik and Peakboy. Taehyung (V) also contributed a song to the OST for The Marvels actor’s hit 2020 drama, Itaewon Class, titled Sweet Night.

The Captain Marvel sequel titled The Marvels is scheduled to be released on November 11, 2022. Park Seo-joon has become the third Korean actor to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Claudia Kim appeared in Avengers: Age Of Ultron and Ma Dong-seok aka Don Lee, will appear in The Eternals, which is scheduled to be released on Nov. 5.

The Marvels is intended to be the sequel to Captain Marvel (2019), a continuation of the Disney+ series Ms. Marvel (2021), and the 31st film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film will be directed by Nia DeCosta and will star Brie Larson as Carol Danvers alongside Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, and Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel.
