Many anime fans originally started watching Bleach in the 2000s, and by the time it wrapped up its initial eight-year-long run, we all had grown up alongside the show.

After 2012, the anime went on an indefinite hiatus. Even after years had passed by, there was no news of the return of the anime. But despite that, many Bleach faithful stayed patient through this period, hoping they would one day see the return of Ichigo and the Soul Society.

Their patience has finally been rewarded after a decade with Thousand Year Blood War. The Bleach anime has not only returned but has returned with style, providing a more thorough and extended experience to the arc than the manga, and Pierrot has been doing a brilliant job with the production.

Every single episode has been a treat to watch, with one of the most iconic panels from the series finally getting animated this week—what a time to be a Bleach fan.

2. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is the Second Best Anime of All Time, according to IMDb user ratings.

The series is considered one of the best anime in just about every review aggregate site and is widely appreciated and loved by many. Rightfully so, it’s one of the most complete stories in the medium, packed with action, emotions, mystery, and plenty of moral and profound philosophical arguments.

3. Attack on Titan

IMDb's 10 Best Anime of All Time: Attack on Titan

One of the things that Fullmetal Alchemist portrays masterfully is the horror of war and the cycle of hatred and violence.

Attack on Titan takes all of that even further. Isayama’s storytelling, the constant jaw-dropping reveals, and confrontations that have been years in the build-up, nothing ever seems to miss a beat. The show is Third on IMDb’s list of the Best Anime of All Time.

4. Hunter x Hunter

IMDb's 10 Best Anime of All Time: Hunter x Hunter

Hunter x Hunter is a unique shonen in its own right. The series subverts the usual trope of Shonen anime and goes into some really different territories in every single arc. Chimera Ants arc, especially, is a masterpiece in storytelling, and love letters could be written analysing various parts and aspects of that arc alone.

5. Death Note

Death Note was the introduction to the medium for many, and it certainly is an edge-of-the-seat entrance to the world of anime—an extravagant cat-and-mouse game of epic proportions where everything is at stake.

IMDb’s Best Anime of All Time: Cowboy Bebop and Vinland Saga are also in the Top 10.

6. One Piece

One Piece was winning hearts before the turn of the century, and it has been winning it still twenty-three years later.

An evergreen adventure in the ocean with Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates full of action and tears—there is a reason why One Piece is still so highly regarded and is just as popular even after two decades, and you probably can’t grasp it without being a part of the phenomenon itself.

7. Cowboy Bebop

IMDb's 10 Best Anime of All Time: Cowboy Bebop

Cowboy Bebop blurs boundaries. On the surface, it’s a Space Western, but there are so many different elements blended together throughout the anime. Sometimes it’s a crime drama, and sometimes it is like a buddy cop show. It is action-packed, but there’s a great sense of romance, loss, and tragedy. Sometimes it’s a film noir, and sometimes it is jazz itself.

The anime is a classic. And the episode “The Ballad of Fallen Angels” is something we will probably never be able to get out of our heads.

8. Steins; Gate

Steins; Gate is one of the best takes on time travel you will probably ever see. It’s ridiculously good and utterly captivating the deeper you dive into it.

There are all the traditional things you’d come to love from a time travel sci-fi show, but its best aspect is probably the quality of the characterisation. You get deeply invested in its likeable cast and how their lives are affected by every event in the series. The further you get into the anime, the more insane it gets.

9. Chainsaw Man

Chainsaw Man only premiered in October but has already made IMDb’s Top 10 Best Anime of All Time.

The series had an unprecedented amount of hype going into it, and MAPPA has absolutely hit home with the anime’s production and delivered in every single aspect of the series. Fujimoto’s story has lived up to all of the hype so far and promises to be one of the great modern shonen.

10. Vinland Saga

IMDb's 10 Best Anime of All Time: Vinland Saga

Vinland Saga is another one of the profound seinen body of work that is enriched with stunning action pieces and has a fascinating historical setting. Season 1 was insanely bloody and full of action but within all of that had some of the most beautiful and brilliantly written character arcs in the medium. Especially as far as first seasons go, there’s probably not quite topping the prologue of this spectacular anime adaptation by WIT Studio.

We can’t wait to explore Thorfinn’s journey more this season.
