Tokyo Revengers has continued to dominate the monthly Oricon Charts for Manga sales for the fifth month in the row as the series finishes the last month of the fiscal year of 2021 as its Best-Selling Manga Series. The backlogs for the series managed to beat the latest volume for the popular veteran series Kingdom as well as Spy x Family this month.
The Tokyo Revengers anime aired its last episode on September 17 and while the sales for the manga series have been steadily declining since September, the series still continues to be all over the Oricon Weekly Top 50 charts with multiple entries.

The popular manga series did see a drop of 53% from its performance in October where it sold close to 2 million copies. But it still sold a huge 953,952 copies in November in backlogs.
Tokyo Revengers finished third on the yearly Oricon sales of 2021 with over 24.9 million copies sold during this fiscal year. It should be noted that the series which had only 10 million copies in circulation during the start of the anime, now has managed to hit an estimated 40 million copies in circulation in Japan in just over seven months’ time.
Tokyo Revengers is already the 69th Best-Selling Manga of All-Time.
Meanwhile, Kingdom took the second spot as Volume 63 of the series sold over 504,460 copies in just 10 days of the release. The manga also had an impressive month for its backlogs as the series sold a total of 885,669 copies in November.

Spy x Family continues to be one of the biggest series for Shueisha, the series recently got the announcement for a juggernaut anime adaptation by WIT Studio (Attack on Titan) and Cloverworks (The Promised Neverland) scheduled for 2022 and released its eighth volume in Japan. The latest volume of the series sold 666,432 copies in November and was the best-selling individual volume for the month.
Spy x Family is already outperforming the likes of My Hero Academia on per volume sales without an anime adaptation. It will be very exciting to see where the series goes in terms of success when the anime drops.
And speaking of success, with the conclusion of its Mugen Train Arc, Demon Slayer also continues to be in the Top 5 with over 385,000 copies sold this month. Jujutsu Kaisen took the fifth spot with its least successful month of the year selling 361,462 copies.
Meanwhile, the month of November sees one of the biggest surprises from Oricon charts in recent times as Frieren took the sixth place with its latest volume outdoing the recent outing of Dr. Stone.
It should be noted that Frieren also doesn’t have an anime adaptation but unlike Spy x Family, it is not scheduled to get one anytime soon nor is it published digitally. Furthermore, Frieren is not published in a Shueisha or a Kodansha magazine and its parent magazine, Weekly Shonen Sunday, has marginally a lot less fewer copies in circulation every week than those two.
Frieren was also placed 3rd in the Next Manga Awards 2021 (Print Category). It has been awarded the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize in 2021 as well.
Dr. Stone was in the seventh-place this month with the release of its Volume 23 which sold 205,305 copies during its initial four weeks. My Hero Academia is the last Jump entry from the first half of the list, the beloved series was in the eighth spot for November selling over 249,000 copies in backlogs.
My Hero Academia is also having its best year yet as the series has now sold over 7 million copies during this fiscal year and even outdid One Piece to become the 5th Best-Selling Manga Series of 2021.
The latest volume of Hitorigoto (The Apothecary Diaries) was released towards the end of November and has sold a massive 146,727 copies already, ensuring the manga’s place in Oricon Top 10 for November. It should be noted that The Apothecary Diaries is a manga adaptation of the beloved light novel of the same name.

Meanwhile, Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun was in the 11th place this month, the manga released its 24th volume in mid-November which has already sold 125,019 copies so far.
Blue Lock on the other hand continues to have a stellar run, the series placed 12th in Oricon Top 20 for November with its previous volume releasing back in mid-October. The manga sold over 163,944 copies this month and has been enjoying a solid boost in the sales of its backlogs ever since the announcement of the anime adaptation. If this is any hint of how things will progress when the anime starts airing, Kodansha have another blockbuster in their hands right now.

Oshi no Ko, which was the winner of the Print Category in Next Manga Awards, took the 13th place in November’s Top 20. The sixth volume for the series was released in late November and has sold 141,128 copies so far.
The manga is co-created by Kaguya-sama’s Aka Akasaka and Scum’s Wish mangaka Mengo Yokoyari. The manga which depicts a realistic and gut-wrenching look at the Idol culture is published in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump.

Football manga Ao Ashi has been around for quite some time and despite being massively popular in Japan, the series is just now getting an anime adaptation. Ao Ashi’s latest release, Volume 26, has sold 129,976 copies so far and the series was the 14th Best-Selling Manga Series of November 2021. The anime will premiere on April 2022 and is produced by Production IG.
The bottom half of the list also sees the inclusion of Ousama Ranking and Komi Can’t Communicate. Both of these titles have been flourishing off of their wonderful anime adaptations and their backlogs have seen a massive boost in their sales.
Komi Can’t Communicate sold 148,708 copies in November while Ousama Ranking sold 139,707 copies. They placed 15th and 16th on the Top 20 respectively.
This month Shueisha took almost half the spots in the list while Kodansha managed to get 4 of their publications in the Top 20 as they continue to hold the first spot.
