Fans had been eagerly waiting for the anime adaptation of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 6: Stone Ocean since the end of the previous part back in 2019. We all cried weeb tears of joy when Part 6 was officially announced in April this year and have been barely able to contain our excitement ever since the first trailer dropped.
And now that the anime is finally here, it didn’t take this beloved franchise long to soar into some new remarkable highs for the anime community. According to Netflix, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean (JoJo Part 6) was viewed for more than 13.94 million hours during its debut week on Netflix.
Stone Ocean was also the 17th most-watched TV Series on Netflix around the world in the first week of December and was the 8th most-watched foreign-language TV series of the week.
This is also the biggest viewing time for an anime in a single week since the release of Baki Hanma. Baki Hanma was viewed for more than 20 million hours in its debut week.

The first 12 episodes for Part 6 of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure were released on December 1 on Netflix around the world while the television broadcast is slated to start next month.
The release schedule for JoJo is quite similar to some of Netflix’s previous titles such as Great Pretender (WIT Studio), which had released its entire first cour on Netflix before the commencement of its Japanese broadcast as well.
The second cour of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean will most likely hit Netflix sometime before the Spring Anime Season. Although due to Netflix’s decision to release an entire 12 episode long batch at once, fans have been speculating that David Production is suffering from a poor scheduling issue regarding the release of the next batch of episodes. This does make the fact that Netflix first listed JoJo as a monthly release on their press website quite ironic.

Regardless of these developments, as long as the staff gets enough time to do the source material justice and aren’t pushed to the brim to put out another batch of episodes as soon as possible, JoJo fans are not likely gonna complain.
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure manga started serialization in 1987 and was published in Weekly Shonen Jump till 2004. Since 2005, the manga has been published in Shueisha’s Monthly Seinen magazine, Ultra Jump.
Part 6 of JoJo, Stone Ocean, was serialized in Shonen Jump from 2000-2003 and has been collected into 17 volumes. The series is licensed in North America by Viz Media.
The eighth part of JoJo titled ‘JoJolion‘ recently ended its serialization after a very successful ten-year-long run. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is written and illustrated by Hirohiko Araki.
Part 6 (Stone Ocean anime) takes place over a hundred years after Part 1 and is set in 2011 in Florida where Jolyne Kuujou sits in a jail cell like her father Joutarou once did. She has been framed for a crime she didn’t commit and has been manipulated into serving a longer sentence. Jolyne has given up all hope and is ready to surrender her life to this cruel fate of being a prisoner in Green Dolphin Street Jail. But when all hope seems lost, a gift from her father ends up awakening her latent abilities, manifesting into her Stand, Stone Free.
She is now armed with the power to change her fate, Jolyne soon sets out to find an escape from the stone ocean that holds her.
But it can’t be that easy, Jolyne discovers that her incarceration is merely a small part of a larger conspiracy. One that is not only aimed towards her family but has bigger catastrophic consequences. And that’s not it, the mastermind behind it all is lurking within the very same prison that holds her. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 6 sees Jolyne in a course to stop their plot and clear her name in order to take control of her life again.
