TV Time, the popular television and movies tracking app has released its list for the most-binged TV shows of August 2021, where Outer Banks and One Piece have continued to dominate the summer season with a combined total of 5.39% of the platform’s total binge sessions in the month of August. 

Outer Banks dethroned Never Have I Ever which took over the first place from Elite after its sophomore season dropped in July.

The show amounted for a total of 3.41% of TV Time’s overall binge sessions for August and was the most-binged TV show on the popular television tracking platform.

Outer Banks had an extremely solid debut with a 5.29% share of binges in the last week of July. And the Netflix series not only managed to keep up with the momentum of its debut week but it somehow even surpassed it as it scored a binge share of 6.30% during the first week of August.

The show continued to hold steady and was behind 3.35% binge-sessions among the TV Time community in the second week of August, before seeing the expected decline to 2.35% and 1.65% in the latter half of the month.

 

 

Most Popular TV Shows of August 2021: One Piece Continues to Soar High

One Piece has continued its steady rise as the series managed to take the second spot this month with a total of 1.98% share of the binge-sessions. The anime’s protagonist Monkey D. Luffy was also amongst the most-favorited characters in the TV Time app for August.

The month of August was heavily dominated by Network and Veteran TV Shows with 3 of the Top 5 Most-Watched TV shows having a combined total of more than 1500 episodes among them. ABC managed to break the heavy Netflix domination that we have been seeing this past couple of months as 3 of their shows ranked among the Top 5. Although, the tradition of Netflix keeping the first spot seems to carry on.

The latter half of the list comprises some latest Netflix hits alongside popular NBC sitcoms spanning over three decades. Never Have I Ever, which previously ranked first, took the eighth spot with 1.01% shares of binge sessions. While the new Netflix entry of the month was Control Z, the show which was the sixth most binge-watched TV show of August with 1.04% of the platform’s binges.

Brooklyn 99 finally managed to break into the Top 10 and was able to join The Office and Friends completing the NBC sitcom trio dominance. 

 

TV Time’s list for August’s Most-Watched TV Shows also features some more popular anime in it as Naruto Shippuden and My Hero Academia amounted for 0.9% and 0.85% of the TV Time community’s binge sessions in August. You can check out the full list below.

 

TV Time also released its list for the Most Favorited Characters in the platform for August 2021, and Rudy Pankow’s JJ Maybank (Outer Banks) has been crowned as the top character on the platform for the month. Brooklyn 99’s beloved protagonist Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) and Outer Banks’ Sarah Cameron (Madelyn Cline) were the second and third most favorited characters of August amongst the TV Time community respectively.
