Uma Musume Pretty Derby Breaks its own Records while New BD/DVD Volumes of JJK, SK8, and Mushoku Tensei off to a Stellar Start

The Second Volume of Uma Musume: Pretty Derby Season 2 has sold a total of 150,390 copies in its first five days of release surpassing its own record for the biggest debut ever.

Oricon released their Weekly BD/DVD Sales Charts for the week of 21/06/21-27/06/21 yesterday. And Uma Musume: Pretty Derby has continued its reign with the release of its second-volume disc for Season 2.

The second Bluray DVD volume of Uma Musume: Pretty Derby Season 2 has sold a total of 150,390 copies in its first five days of release, and has surpassed its own record of the anime’s first volume (112,030) to take the first spot for all-time sales debut of any TV anime’s single disc.

The first volume disc of Uma Musume: Pretty Derby Season 2 came out on the 26th of May and has sold almost 185,000 copies as of June 29, and currently holds the record for the best-selling disc of any TV anime ever.

Meanwhile, there have been some other exciting notable releases that are having a solid debut run. Jujutsu Kaisens Disc 6 debuted with 20,436 copies sold (More than 13,000 Bluray copies) and ranked 7th in Weekly Oricon Bluray Sales Charts. While Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club Volume 7 ranked 5th selling 16,768 Bluray copies.

And, Original TV anime SK8 the Infinity Volume 4 sold 6,288 copies outdoing the Second Volume of the popular isekai series Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation which also had a solid debut with 4,053 copies.

Horimiya Volume 5 held steady as well with 2,055 copies and is the biggest hit for CloverWorks this year.

As for the rest of the Winter Anime series, Tsukiuta: The Animation Season 2 Volume 4 also ranked in Oricon and sold 1,825 copies. While 2.43: Seiin High School Boys Volleyball Team Volume 2 and Cells at Work! Code Black Volume 5 sold 189 and 179 copies respectively.

Anime Sales for 21/06/21-27/06/21: Zombieland Saga off to a huge start.

As for the first volume releases, Zombie Land Saga Revenge Volume 1 was the biggest release of the week and the season so far and sold 6,925 Bluray DVDs while The Slime Diaries: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime sold 1,532 copies with its first volume.

Fruits Basket: The Final Volume 1 sold 1,812 BD copies. And, How Not to Summon a Demon Lord Ω Volume 1 BD also had a fairly decent start selling 1,083 copies.

While Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro had an underwhelming start selling just 627 copies. The series hasn’t been a big hit in streaming either and the anime’s future might just depend on how much the anime has boosted manga sales and merchandise.

There were also a couple of Box-sets debut this week with Mo Dao Zu Shi: Xian Yun Pian Box-set selling 5,609 copies and Shin Tennis no Ouji-sama: Hyoutei vs. Rikkai – Game of Future selling 4,135 copies. Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon Volume 2 also had a Box-set release and sold 1,017 copies.
