Demon Slayer BD/DVD Sells More Than 1.3 Million Copies in 5 Days, Tokyo Revengers Opens with 2900, See Weekly Anime Sales List

Oricon unveiled their Weekly BD/DVD Anime Sales charts yesterday. And Demon Slayer has broken yet another record by selling 1.31 million copies with the release of the BD/DVD for its film Mugen Train.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba- Mugen Train sold 1,310,783 copies in its first five days of release surpassing the all-time sales record for Evangelion (Rebuild) 2.0 which sold 841,988 copies, taking the first spot for all-time cumulative sales of a TV anime-related theatrical release.

The movie now also holds second place for the highest first-week sales for a Japanese anime film of all time where Spirited Away has the throne with 2,524,743 copies.

While this doesn’t exactly come as a surprise considering the insane amount of popularity this movie which has grossed over half a billion dollars has, it is still impressive to see just how many records it can break.

Mugen Train is also the first Non-American film in history to take the Number 1 spot in the Worldwide Box Office for a year and is also the highest-grossing film that is neither American nor Chinese.
