The announcement comes prior to the confirmation from any of its other official international social media handles or press releases.

According to Marvel India, the upcoming Blade reboot will be released on October 7, 2022. It is notable that although this information regarding Blade’s MCU debut hadn’t been made public previously, Disney’s official lineup for all of its planned upcoming releases till 2029 did have an Untitled Marvel movie scheduled to release on October 7, 2022.

The tweet from Marvel India has made the Blade situation all the more confusing considering the fact that the sources say the Blade movie won’t start filming until July 2022.

The tweet has since been deleted from its official handle.

Marvel’s Blade will star two-time Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali and will be directed by Bassam Tariq who recently directed the Riz Ahmed starrer Mogul Mowgli.

This new Blade film will be the beloved vampire hunter’s first introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will also be the titular character’s first cinematic outing since the release of the final film in the Blade trilogy starring Wesley Snipes in 2004.

While Wesley Snipes is not yet set to appear in this MCU reboot, we can’t yet rule out the fact that he might even just return to reprise another version of the titular character or maybe for just a cameo role. At least, one can hope for that since the current batch of Marvel programming has blown the multiverse wide open and will even see the return of characters from the previous Spiderman movies such as Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus from Sam Raimi’s Spiderman 2 and Jamie Foxx’s Electro from The Amazing Spiderman 2.

Of course, if we count the rumored appearance of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as Spiderman from different earths in Spiderman: No Way Home and the rumors of Professor X’s cameo in Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness. Then Wesley Snipes’s cameo doesn’t seem that far-fetched in the near future.

The original Blade trilogy is streaming on HBO Max.
