The Flash Season 8: Grant Gustin Suits Up as “Surprise Villain” in BTS Pictures

*Spoilers for The Flash Season 8 ahead.*

Grant Gustin has been spotted wearing the suit for Reverse-Flash during the filming of the five-part crossover event Armageddon from The Flash Season 8.

The leaked images have left the fans speculating as to what is going on since Tom Cavanaugh is also set to return as Eobard Thawne during this crossover event.

Grant Gustin’s Reverse-Flash seems to be wearing the tachyon enhancer that has enabled the speedsters to travel through time during the previous seasons. The device was first used by Tom Cavanaugh’s Reverse-Flash in his first episode, The Man in the Yellow Suit. Barry was later seen wearing the tachyon prototype when he made the jump to Earth-38 and met Kara Danvers aka Supergirl for the first time.

While we are not yet sure why Reverse-Flash is wearing Barry’s face, the fan-favorite villain was spotted with his comrade from the past and a fellow member of Legion of Doom, Damien Darhk.

Although we are really excited to see Grant Gustin play his titular character’s very own arch-nemesis, it still always is a bit of a letdown to see that the showrunners of The Flash would do literally anything with the character of Reverse-Flash but bring back Matt Letscher.

The actor has expressed his wish to return to the show for a while now. But although reasons are unknown and what fans expect is due to budget issues, The CW has been reluctant to bring him back.

Grant Gustin was also spotted as the titular character alongside Brandon Routh’s Atom in the previously leaked pictures from the set.

The Flash Season 8: Leaked Images also introduces Ryan Choi as Atom.

The new batch of leaked images also introduces Ryan Choi in his very comic-accurate Atom suit. Osric Chau was spotted in his suit alongside Chyler Leigh’s Alex Danvers, who is also appearing in this crossover after the wrap of Supergirl. Ryan Choi was first introduced during Crisis on Infinite Earths as the Paragon of Humanity and was one of the seven heroes who saved the multiverse from the Anti-Monitor after it was annihilated.

The five-part event crossover will take place with the first five episodes of The Flash Season 8 and while they have been said to be The Flash episodes at heart according to the showrunner, Eric Wallace. He has also assured the fans that it will have the same feeling as the usual Arrowverse crossovers in terms of both scope and emotional stakes.

Aside from the regular members of the Team Flash, the crossover will feature Javicia Leslie as Batwoman, Chyler Leigh as Sentinel, and Cress Williams as Black Lightning alongside the return of Brandon Routh as the Atom, Osric Chau as Ryan Choi, and Kat McNamara as Mia Queen.

As far as the Big Bads for this crossover are concerned, other than Tom Cavanagh’s return as Reverse-Flash, and Neal McDonough as Damien Darhk, we will also be seeing Tony Curran as Despero.

  1. Its interesting that the suit appears to be all yellow instead of fading to the blackish brown of the othe RF suit. A traditional RF suit perhaps?

  2. Why don’t grant then into savitar, to make the backstory of Barry Allen/Flash/Savitar, we’re Reverse flash got denied by Savitar of Young Thawne and how he set off the second partial exploratory.

  3. I’ve been expecting Gustin to play Reverse Flash/Eobard Thwane since the end of “Crisis on Earth X”. Thwane’s cryptic line about Barry being surprised by whatever face he was going to wear next combined with the fact that in the comics he had plastic surgery to look like Barry made this outcome a no-brainer.

  4. It’s getting old. Whatever happened to the whole Justice League with the flash, superman and wonder woman plus hawkman and girl. All Earth’s hero’s.
