Top 15 Highest Selling Manga Series of 2021 (So Far)

We looked up the Oricon charts to find out what has been the highest selling manga series on Japan in the first 4 months of this year.  And the result is pretty much as you would expect with a few surprises here and there but the numbers have been on the higher side of the spectrum for the second time in a row.

Ever since the manga industry got the Demon Slayer boost, there has been a surge in binge-reading manga with standout series selling millions of copies at once. Such as the case for this year as Jujutsu Kaisen takes the top spot with more than 18.76 million copies sold till April this year with March being its best month where it sold 6.33 million copies.

Demon Slayer which sold a record-breaking 82 million copies the last Oricon year holds the second spot by selling 12 million copies with 6 million being sold in January alone. Attack on Titan has taken the third spot selling 3.8 million copies with the release of Volume 33 back in January and the anime boost which made sure it surpassed last year’s total in the first four months of this year alone.

The fourth place is the Chainsaw Man manga series which has recently announced its anime adaptation by MAPPA with a massive 3.17 million copies sold. Tokyo Revengers has sold 2.7 million copies with the massive anime boost it got this April and takes the fifth spot.

My Hero Academia sales have declined for the anime this year but it could also be due to the distribution issues they had with Volume 30, the series sold almost a million in the month of January with Volume 29. Other prominent entries who have already finished their run like Demon Slayer include The Promised Neverland in seventh place and Haikyuu in ninth place.
