One new anime, in particular, has caught the eye of everyone, even the casual anime fans. The hype surrounding SPY x FAMILY has been insane, with the anime quickly becoming one of the biggest new anime to have come out in recent years. The series has been insanely popular not just in Japan but also globally.

The anime’s success right from its debut has been unprecedented and is unlike anything we have ever seen, especially from a Slice of Life series.

SPY x FAMILY has taken over the anime community around the world. The anime has wiped the floor with some of the stupendously popular sequels airing alongside it this season, like Kaguya-sama: Love is War Season 3 and The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2, and its dominance remains unchallenged.

Most-Watched Anime in Japan right now: Ya Boy Kongming thrives over Kaguya-sama.

After spending close to a month at the top with the release of the latest film in the franchise, Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween, and with all the previous 23 movies becoming exclusively available to stream on Amazon Prime Video, Detective Conan is currently still going strong and is at the second spot.

Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween is also the highest-grossing film in Japan so far this year, making over 8.79 Billion Yen ($65.2 Million) at the Japanese Box Office since its release in April.

Most Watched Anime 2022: Ya Boy Kongming

Ya Boy Kongming, which initially debuted in the 35th place and slowly rose up to popularity, entered the Top 10 for the first time in May. The series has now further moved up to the 4th place.

The anime has garnered a massive amount of positive reactions and buzz on social media around Japan and among the global anime community within the last two months and has even left Kingdom and Kaguya-sama: Love is War behind in Streaming popularity.

Kingdom, which was the Third Most-Watched Anime in Japanese Streaming Services during May, has now moved down to the 5th spot.

While not really being a generous adaptation to what is considered one of the greatest seinen manga of all time, the Kingdom anime continues to be immensely popular with every new season in Japan.

Meanwhile, One Piece has delivered some remarkable and really consistent episodes since its return from the hiatus but has now also fallen down a couple of places compared to its fourth position in May. The beloved anime is in the 6th spot right now.

Demon Slayer, which concluded Season 2 of the anime with the climax of its Entertainment District Arc in February, has finally put the brakes on as it is now at the bottom of the first half of the list.

Demon Slayer is currently the 10th Most-Watched TV Show in Japan. The anime has previously been at the top of the Monthly Charts for six consecutive months before April, since the premiere of the TV Version of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Train. The series was also on top of the Weekly Charts for 21 consecutive weeks before the second week of March.

The Shin-chan anime series kicks off the bottom half of the list. The beloved anime is the 11th Most-Watched Anime and TV Title in Japanese Streaming right now, following the theatrical debut of Shin-chan: Mononoke Ninja Chinpuden on April 22.

Crayon Shin-chan: Mononoke Ninja Chinpūden is the 30th entry in the wildly popular Shin-chan film series and has made over 1.93 Billion Yen ($14.3 Million) so far at the domestic box office. It is also currently the third highest-grossing anime movie of 2022 in Japan.

The film is directed by Masakazu Hashimoto (Appare-Ranman, Fullmetal Alchemist) and features Shinnosuke (Shin-chan), who finds himself in a ninja family, as he attempts to unravel the mystery of his birth and protect the future of the earth and the “tomorrow” of his family.

With nothing new on the horizon, Jujutsu Kaisen has fallen to the 16th spot on the list. Season 2 of the anime is set to air in 2023.

New football anime, Ao Ashi, has also made the list, being triumphant over titles such as Shikimori is Not Just a Cutie and The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2. The anime is in the 18th place right now.

Meanwhile, after being in the top half of the list for the first five months of the year, Attack on Titan has now fallen to the last spot, following the conclusion of the broadcast of the second part of the anime’s fourth and final season.

Part 2 of Attack on Titan Season 4 ended on April 3 with the 87th episode of the series. The anime is set to wrap up its run with a third and final part next year that will cover the remaining nine chapters of the manga series.
