2026 Oscars Nominations: Leonardo DiCaprio Ties Denzel Washington for 21st-Century Oscar Record

Ryan Coogler’s Sinners dominated the 2026 Academy Awards nominations, leading the pack with a record-breaking 16 nods, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay.

One Battle After Another was right behind, earning 13 nominations, while Frankenstein, Marty Supreme, and Sentimental Value followed with nine apiece.

This year’s nominations also marked a significant career milestone for Leonardo DiCaprio, whose Best Actor nod for One Battle After Another brings his total Academy Award nominations tally to seven, tying him with his good friend and Titanic co-star Kate Winslet.

It feels almost fated how their careers continue to mirror one another in prestige and longevity, even after three decades since their first film together.

Notably, DiCaprio is now tied with Denzel Washington for the record for the most acting nominations (six) of any male performer in the 21st century.

The nominees were announced by Danielle Brooks and Lewis Pullman during a live presentation at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater, spanning 24 categories, including the newly introduced Best Casting award—the first new Oscar category since Best Animated Feature debuted in 2002.

The 2026 Oscars will be hosted by Conan O’Brien and will air live on ABC and Hulu from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, March 15, beginning at 4 p.m. PT.
